Staged as part of Titan Poker’s Winter Edition promotion, the 2012 $10,000 Freeroll took place last night and attracted 3,500 starters. When the dust settled, it was a Canadian player who finished on top.
Canadian “TTR144023732”, who only signed up at Titan Poker towards the end of December and has yet to make a first deposit, was the overall freeroll winner, taking home a paycheck of $1,811.
Second place went to Finnish player “habanero86”, who pocketed $1,100. The Finnish player had a slight advantage in chips when heads-up play began, but the Canadian took the lead within two hands, staying ahead for most of the two-way battle that lasted 21 hands.
The final hand of the tournament was not particularly exciting, as the unsuited pocket A T of “TTR144023732” was able to hold off the threat of “habanero86” completing a flush with his Q 3 of spades.
The tournament lasted exactly 7 hours and a total of $10,000 in prize money was distributed to the winners.
In order to become eligible for the 2012 $10,000 Freeroll, players were required to generate at least 250 Points during the month of December. Some players qualified on a single day, and others built up enough Points over a longer period. Entry tokens to the freeroll were distributed to qualified players on January 1st, and the tournament quickly reached maximum capacity of 3,500 players.
