The inaugural $10,000 Monthly Bonanza tournament was staged last night and attracted 1,986 starters who had qualified during the month of January. After six hours of competition, “fishulus” from Poland remained the last man standing to claim first prize of $1,600.
When heads-up play began, “FritzFehn” from Germany was slightly ahead of the Polish player. But everything changed on a hand when “fishulus” was holding A 8 versus the A 6 held by the German. When the flop brought 9 8 8, “FritzFehn” led with a small bet which was raised by “fishulus”. The German then pushed all-in, and “fishulus” happily called. The turn brought another 9 to complete a full house, and “fishulus” was just one hand away from winning the tournament.
For his second place finish, “FritzFehn” received $1,200.
The $10,000 Monthly Bonanza is a new addition to the tournament schedule at Titan Poker. It takes place on the last day of each month, and players can qualify for a seat in a number of ways. Direct buy-ins to this tournament are 2,000 Points, but there are freeroll qualifiers as well as special satellites for depositors.
The next $10,000 Monthly Bonanza will take place on February 29, 2012, at 20:30 GMT. Satellite tournaments are already being staged in the software, but registration to the big event will only begin on the morning of February 29th.
