Roman Tolipolskiy

Russian poker player Roman Tolipolskiy will be playing poker and vacationing in the Caribbean in November. Roman, who plays at the Titan Poker tables under the nickname "Uhahahaha", won a €7,500 Ultimate Caribbean Experience Package at the Super Satellite on Sunday night.

Roman will be flying from Paris to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic to play the €1,170 buy-in Caribbean Open. Following that he will fly to the island of St. Maarten to play the €1,290 buy-in CPT Open. In addition to the poker tournaments, Roman will enjoy 17 nights of luxury accommodations. Players can still win full or partial Caribbean Poker Tour packages at Titan Poker's satellite series.

Roman, also known in the online poker world by the nickname ‘Ganjagadd’, has been to the Caribbean before. Last year he played the Punta Cana Poker Classic 2012. In an interview at the time, Roman, described as a 29-year-old sales manager from Russia who lives with his girlfriend and plays the electric guitar, spoke about his poker career.

“I started playing poker 3 years ago after I saw a friend playing the game. I like to understand how people think, so a strategy game like poker is the perfect choice for me. I usually play NL Hold'em SNG 9-max $5-$7 games and I definitely plan to compete in more satellites and large scale tournaments whenever I get the opportunity!”

Roman spoke to us after winning his seat and the honor of representing Titan Poker at the upcoming Caribbean Poker Tour 2013.

Q: What land-based tournaments have you previously played?

Roman: I played the LAPT, GSOP, and the Punta-Cana Classic.

Q: What would you consider to be a tournament success?

Roman: Any good results at the moment :)

Q: Do you use different strategies when playing online poker tournaments as compared to land-based events?

Roman: No.

Q: What has helped you most to improve your poker skills?

Roman: Self control and equability.

Q: Do you have any amusing poker anecdotes to relate?

Roman: It doesn't matter how many players are in the tournament - you need to be best of the best on your table.

Q: What are your expectations of the upcoming Caribbean Poker Tour?

Roman: I think it will be super!

Roman was knocked out of the Punta Cana Poker Classic 2012 in a very early stage but we hope he will do much better this year in the Caribbean Poker Tour 2013 tournaments. In any case, he is guaranteed a Caribbean vacation in a place that he describes as "Hakuna-Matata."
