Since Adam York graduated from University last summer, he has been playing poker full time, both online and on the international circuit. He loves to travel and experience new things and poker is a perfect way for him to do this. Earlier this year Adam won a satellite with Titan Poker to play at the Aussie Millions and whilst there he went scuba diving, surfing and bungee jumping! Adam also enjoys golf, keeping fit and playing as much poker as possible.
I feel extremely pleased to be part of this elite team. I am very excited about playing at great venues all over the world.
I graduated with a BSC in Applied Economics.
I was introduced to online poker by some friends about 6 years ago. Whilst at University I had some big wins online and started to take the game more seriously. My first major live tournament was the 2008 WSOP main event in which I finished 114th. This encouraged me to qualify for as many live tournaments as possible, including many of the European Poker Tour (EPT) events.
My biggest cash win so far was in the 2009 WSOP main event, in which I came 41st for just under $179,000.
Mix up your game. Every player, table and situation will be different so it is important to be able to change your style when it is necessary. This will also help you become less predictable in the long run.
Mix up your game! Look for new experiences and challenge yourself.
I would say I am a laid back, calm person but also very competitive, which is why I always strive to be the best at everything I put my hand to.
I have loads of favourite movies, but my favourite actors are Matt Damon, Eddie Norton and Robert De Niro. So Rounders is obviously one of my all time favourites, also Good Will Hunting and Goodfellas. I like all sorts of music but at the moment I am into Kings of Leon and Kasabian.
Daniel Negreanu. Not only is he a great player but he always seems to enjoy himself both on and off the table.
I really want to play the Aussie Millions again, as I love Australia and the tournament itself is at a fantastic location.
Of course this depends on the amount of money I win, some will be used to build my poker bankroll. But hopefully I can win enough so that my girlfriend and I can buy a nice big house! I have also donated money to charities of my choice in the past so hopefully I can continue to do this.
Play as much as possible to get some experience under your belt, playing online is a great way to do this as you can play so many more hands per hour than in a live game. Also, there are so many helpful books and websites available now, so take the time to read up and develop your game, you will reap the benefits in the end.
