EPT Dortmund 2009 Blog
Day 1
I arrived at the Hohensyburg's casino for my first EPT tournament and was very impressed with everything. When the first game began I started to feel stressed, which was normal for being in a live tournament for the first time. I did however have several good hands. The first hand I am in the button, I have an Ace and a King, and I raise the big blind three times.
The big blind calls, the flop comes Ace Ace Jack, I check my opponent's check, he gets a Ten at the turn, my opponent went All-In since he has a shortstack. At this point, he only had 3000 chips left and he then turns back a pair of Tens, and since anything could happen in poker, he gets a Seven, a Three and a Two, with Two Hearts among them.
I raise again two thousand after the flop, my opponent follows, he gets a Jack, I raise two thousand at the turn, he pays and gets an Eight. I check at the river, my opponent throws again at six thousand. I feel that my opponent is weak, since in the previous turns he had taken a badbeat. I see a color draw he did not get, I pay, he has a Queen and a Ten of Hearts.
End of the first day and there were a little more than a hundred people who had participated in the first session. I came back to the hotel feeling quite exhausted.

Day 2
I began the day with a little more than 16000 chips. I told myself that I must double my stack quickly, as the blinds are already high. On the 4th hand of the day, I got a pair of Aces, I raise, the big blind that was short stack re-raises, I call, he shows a Jack of Clubs and a Jack of Diamonds. The flop is an Ace of Diamonds, 6 of Spades and 3 of Diamonds
The flop is an Ace of Diamonds, Six pick and Three Diamonds, the turn Ten Diamonds and at the river, Two Diamonds, this means that my luck has left me. They put me on another table which has big stacks. The turns go by, my stack diminishes, I am at the button, I have an Ace and a Six, I raise in an attempt to steal the blinds. The big blind is Ace and King, he gets a flop of King, Six and Ten, nothing at the turn, nor at the river. I finished at about 160th Place.
I am tired but satisfied with the result of my first ever "live tournament".
Titan Poker congratulates you on an excellent performance and thanks you for a great tournament. See you at the next one!
