LAPT Punta del Este 2009 Blog
I decided to play my first tournament on the other side of the world in Punte Del Este, Uruguay. As the tournament began on the 18th of March, I flew on the 15th so that I would have time to recover from the jetlag (26 hour journey). I remembered that last year, when I competed at the Asian Poker Tour Manila in the Philippines, I had to start playing at the main event only a couple of hours after I arrived. I didn’t want to put myself in that position again. After a couple days of rest the main event began.
I constantly needed to fold as I received the worst cards ever and after bluffing at the wrong moment, I ended up in level 6 with half of my stack. With blinds 300/600 I’m getting under the gun AQo and place a bet 3,5x the BB, knowing that I’m actually already committed. The middle position goes All-In and after thinking for a while, the big blind also goes All-In. With 3000 chips in front of me and about 15,000 in the pot, I didn’t hesitate and shifted my chips to the middle of the table. My only fear was AK and AK, because even with KK, I have an overcard. When the cards are opening I’m thrilled to see that the MP has JJ and the BB has QQ. So I still have a chance as the board paired. Unfortunately the flop, turn and river are not much of a help, which means the end for me. I was disappointed, but I’ve been in a beautiful country, tasted the culture, gained a lot of live poker experience and got to know nice people from many different countries.
The next adventure will arrive soon. On the 2nd of April I’m going to Salzburg, Austria where I’ll join the EC Poker Tour, organized by Titan Poker. I really feel like playing and I’m looking forward to meeting the other team members and girls from Titan Poker.
