When Jerome Bessout is not touring Europe playing the drums in his rock band, he is perfecting his poker game online. His victory in the Titan Team Country Final Tournament was his biggest yet and he looks forward to playing against fellow players in some live action tournaments soon.
Well done! You're officially the best Titan Poker tournament player in your country! How do you feel?
I feel very proud. This was a goal I set for myself and I was able to achieve it.
What do you like to do when your not playing poker?
I work as a teacher and am also a drummer in two different bands. One is a post rock jazz group called “Fago Sepia” and the other is a rock band called “Sheer Catastrophe”. We do tours in Europe and produce our own CDs.
What's your educational background?
I have a BTS in technical assistant engineering and a diploma in quality control. I used to work for a company doing quality assurance and have since switched careers and am now a teacher of drums.
How long have you been playing poker and how did you get started?
I have been playing Texas Hold 'em with no limit for the last two years. I like to play live games with my friends when I get a chance, but mostly I play online. I started to play Titan Poker with twenty Euros in a small sit-n-go and it really helped me learn how to play poker.
What's your biggest win so far either live or online?
My victory in the Titan Team Country Final Tournament.
What's your poker philosophy?
Poker is a game you always learn from when you play and it takes patience, perseverance and a mastery of your emotions to be successful.
What's your life philosophy?
To be respectful, generous, humble and full of love.
How would you describe yourself?
I am a calm and generous person.
What's your favourite music/movie?
I love listening to rock, jazz and funk music. I enjoy watching Tarantino and Scorcese movies and independent films.
Which poker player do you aspire to be most like and why?
I really respect Gus Hansen, Cris Ferguson and Phil Gordon, but the person who inspires me the most is Dan Harrington. I learned how to play in tournaments after reading a trilogy he wrote on tournament play.
Do you prefer online or live tournaments and why?
I love to play online. I think it is essential to learn how to become a master poker player. My goal is to eventually play live and take on the best players in person.
Any key moments you remember from the Titan Team Country Final Tournament?
My game has improved and that allowed me to be one of the top five players all the way to the end of the tournament.
Which tournament/country is first on your list as a new Titan Team member and why?
I do not know yet.
What do you plan to do with the prize money from each tournament if you win?
I want to do a lot of traveling.
Any advice to other players hoping to be a part of the Titan Team?
As players we all experience a bad beat and should never give up. Just keep playing.
