EPT Dortmund 2009 Blog
After the Deauville EPT (European Poker Tour) and my 19th place finish, I set out for the EPT Dortmund with the goal to do better and, why not, go all the way to the final table. When you begin a marathon challenge such as an EPT tournament, you do so in order to take it to the end, or else you'd better stay home.
Day 1 - First Level
I raised pre-flop 3 times with strong hands; AK AQ and QQ.

Jerome Bessout stays focused.
Second to Fifth Level
My first pair of aces finally arrives and no action. I got a pair of QQ (Hearts Diamonds) 20 minutes later at the end of my turn. I raised my standard raise with an added 2 BBs to compensate for the limpers. 3 clubs come on the flop. The first one bets, the second player raised again and of course, I lay down my pair. During the next three hours I was not able to build upon my original stack of 10000 that I had started with and I now owned 8000 chips on average.
I had several table breaks throughout the day and finally the last hour of the day arrives. Most people at my table are very aggressive Swedish and Finnish players. I decide to wait for the right moment to make a move, I don't have to worry about being patient as my first hand is pocket Aces. The Finnish guy who is very aggressive and is under the gun raised again. Everybody folds to me. I decide not to slow play my monster and I raise it over and over again three times, hoping to find KK or AK in front of me. The Finnish guy goes All-In and I follow him immediately. He returns KK and the first card of the flop is a K! I feel that I got knocked out mainly due to bad luck and I can't really fault my play.
Titan Poker congratulates you on an excellent performance and thanks you for a great tournament. See you at the next one!
