A delegation of Titan Poker's best players headed to the ECPokerTour's first stop in 2010 in sunny Barcelona. The players had won their ECPokerTour Barcelona packages at Titan Poker's qualifier satellite tournaments, and upon arrival in Barcelona at the tournament, which was sponsored by Titan Poker, they were awarded with top VIP treatment.
Players arrived at Casino Barcelona and walked down the ECPokerTour carpet to the poker room just to have a glimpse of tomorrow's battle scene. Every player was eager to leave the casino with the ECPokerTour Winner's Trophy and a check.
While some players continued to compete in satellite tournaments for the remaining 15 seats to the Main Event, Titan Poker's players were getting ready to party at the luxurious Club Shoko.
Champagne and Vodka Magnums were waiting for them at the VIP tables, and nearby were beautiful Spanish dancers. An open bar was available to the players and their guests until 3 a.m. The crowd was really mixed after 12 a.m. with all the regular clientele of girls who just came to party.
After the fabulous party players had some time to rest before the 4 p.m. Main Event by taking advantage of the amazing facilities in the ECPokerTour's 5 star hotels. A total of 291 players started the tournament and competed for a staggering total prize pool of €727,500, with €170,000 going to the champion.
A lot of well-known faces were there - Fabrice Soulier, EPT Warsaw winner Christophe al Benzimra, Swedish poker jewel Cecilia Nordenstam, Bo Sehlstedt, winner of ECPokerTour Malta and Canadian Titan pro Sorel 'Imper1um' Mizzi, as well as other members of Team Titan.
111 players made it to Day 2 of the Main Event of the ECPT here in Barcelona. Only 27 will finish in the money.
The level of play was incredibly high the whole day. The players were 3-betting, 4-betting and 5-betting like there was no tomorrow. It was bubble time around 3:30 AM and the tournament director decided to call it a day leaving exactly 27 players to battle it out for the title on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Titan Poker's French player Florian Desgouttes won the Moneybookers Side Event taking home €5,180 and an ECPokerTour trophy after eliminating 129 other players.
The chip count of the remaining 27 players:
In the early evening it was down to 9 players at the Final Table.
Fabrice Bachellez won the ECPT Barcelona 2010 and took home a whopping €170,000. Fabrice busted most of the players at the final table himself including Christophe "Mr. 20 Big Blinds" Benzimra (FR) in 5th place with TT vs. AJ. Then Fabrice took out John Eames (UK) in 4th with AT vs. A6s. Andrew Grimason (IRE) was felted minutes later with KJ against Fabrice's A3.
Rebecca Mordoff-Gerin (FR) was the last woman standing and she had to overcome a 3-to-1 chip disadvantage in the head's up. In the final hand Fabrice won with pair of Sevens against Rebecca's Ace Ten of clubs when they got all the chips in pre-flop.
With his 5th place finish, Christophe "Mr. 20 Big Blinds" Benzimra won the title of Titan Poker Top Finalist and will receive $25,000 worth of future ECPokerTour tournament buy-ins and expenses.
